Repainting of the Spire (St George's) - Autumn 2012

The magnificent spire which makes St George's church such a landmark has to be kept in good order. Every ten years therefore it is painted with a special weather resistent paint to keep it in tip-top shape and looking at its best. The workmen who do this fix ladders to the side and then abseil down it - first to clean it thoroughly and then to paint it. Then it's good for another decade.

Making the Lady Chapel more useable (St George's) - Autumn 2012

As part of our ongoing Mission Action Planning (MAP), we identified the need to make full use of our facilities in order to allow worship to be more inclusive. The pues have been removed in the Lady Chapel and new carpet laid (new chairs too) to allow this often under-utilised section of the church to be used for different kinds of worship or mission.
